In Iowa Mr. Gregg married Janet (Anderson) Baird, a native of Perthshire, Scotland. Her first husband, Alexander Anderson, died in Iowa they having come to America in 1850.
July 3, 1857, was the date of his settlement on his present farm, and while living in his log house, both wife Janet and himself suffered six months with malarial fever.
The Seneca Courier - March 24, 1876: Mrs Gregg died in an insane asylumn in St Joe the past week. Mr Gregg was notified of the sad event by telegraph and took the first train east to attend to the disposition of his late wife. Mrs Gregg had been reported improving.
